Chain | Cohn | Stiles, attorney David Cohn selected among the ‘Best of Kern County’ for fifth year straight

May 3, 2017 | 9:27 am

For the fifth year straight, the people of Kern County have voted Chain | Cohn | Stiles as one of the best law firms in the area, and managing partner David K. Cohn as one of the best lawyers.

The law firm and Mr. Cohn were each selected as one of three finalists, named a “Favorite,” in the annual Bakersfield Californian Readers’ Choice Poll, also called the “Best of Bakersfield” or “Best of Kern County” poll. The contest for more than 20 years has had readers of The Bakersfield Californian and Bakersfield Life Magazine choose their favorite people, places, businesses and organizations in the Kern County area.

The poll this year featured more than 75 categories and received hundreds of thousands of votes, according to Bakersfield Life Magazine.

“Readers make their voices heard in selecting the people, places and organizations that exemplify excellence in Bakersfield,” according to the publication. “The competition is fierce and, at times, unforgiving but the honor of being dubbed ‘Best Of’ is well worth it.”

Winners were announced April 29 in the May 2017 issue of Bakersfield Life Magazine.

“Five years ago, when the ‘Best of Kern County’ poll featured the ‘Best Law Firm’ and ‘Best Lawyer’ categories for the first time, local residents gave myself and the law firm the biggest compliment by voting us as one of the ‘best’ in these categories,” said Chain | Cohn | Stiles personal injury lawyer David K. Cohn. “Five years later, and Kern County residents continue to endorse us. We are deeply humbled, and grateful for this honor and will continue to do all we can to help the people of Kern County during their times of need.”

Chain | Cohn | Stiles is the oldest personal injury law firm in Bakersfield, with attorneys and staff bred locally, giving them an extra edge that other firms would never have. In all, the staff and attorneys at the law firm care about their hometown, and hold those accountable to make sure local residents are treated properly.

As an example, take this testimonial from a confidential plaintiff who was sexually assaulted by a law enforcement officer. Chain | Cohn | Stiles represented her and her family in the case:

“They talked to me through everything and even helped me look for a therapist to help me deal with everything. They made sure I was well taken care of. We think of them like family now. They made the whole process 10 times easier than it could have gone.”

Added the plaintiff’s mother: “I felt like they wanted to help, and we felt safe and comfortable. Never did we feel pressure to do anything we didn’t want to do. I felt like they really felt the trauma we were going through. Our problems were their problems. As a mother, I was appreciative. We’ll always remember how they treated us. It was a tough time and they took care of us. They will always have a place in my heart. To me, they are family.”

New Chain | Cohn | Stiles videos focus on commitment to helping injured victims, families

April 6, 2016 | 9:54 am

“You may have a lot on your mind, but we’ll only have one thing on ours — you.”

That’s the message that the Bakersfield-based accident, injury and workers’ compensation law firm Chain | Cohn | Stiles wants viewers to know with the law firm’s new 30-second videos.

“Our message is that we hope you are never in need of an accident or injury attorney, but in the unfortunate event that you do, we can guarantee that you and your family will be our No. 1 priority,” said David K. Cohn, managing partner at Chain | Cohn | Stiles. “We’ll make sure we take care of any and all legal issues so you can focus on your family. And we’ll do everything we can to help you recover and put the pieces back together for you and your family.”

Five new videos are currently airing on television and computer screens across Kern County, and are focused on specific legal practice areas local residents may be dealing with. They feature people who are coping with the fallout of an injury. Each video also features an attorney at Chain | Cohn | Stiles who has experience and expertise in handling cases similar to those victims highlighted in the videos.

You can watch all of the videos here:

Chain | Cohn | Stiles also developed a Spanish video to be able to speak to the large Hispanic and Latino population throughout Kern County. Watch that video here:

Testimonial videos: Former clients speak about their experience at Chain | Cohn | Stiles

February 17, 2015 | 10:41 am

The attorneys and staff at Chain | Cohn | Stiles take pride in their unwavering commitment to all clients.

When handling sensitive cases with distraught clients, the law firm employees take it upon themselves to treat clients not simply as case numbers, but as their own loved ones in times of need. As such, attorneys and staff answer all questions and concerns in a timely manner while making sure every client is aware of his or her legal options. It’s no wonder most new clients to the law firm come at the recommendation of former clients, and referrals.

Chain | Cohn | Stiles invites you to view real testimonials from clients who have retained the Bakersfield personal injury lawyers to represent them in times of hardship. Recently, several former clients were interviewed on camera to share their experience at the Bakersfield-based law firm. Meet them here:

CINDEE

Cindee suffered major injuries when she was involved in a car accident due to the fault of another driver. While she lay in the hospital, Cindee’s husband called the law firm. Chain | Cohn | Stiles lawyer Matt Clark visited her in the hospital, took the case, and received a substantial settlement for Cindee and her family.

“It’s an emotional journey to go through, but it’s very nice to know that you have somebody like Matt Clark representing you, and he’s going to take care of things so that you can get on with your life. So that you can get back, and enjoy your family, and get well and get back to work.”

JOE

A pick-up truck pulled in front of Joe as he rode his motorcycle to work, which caused him to lose control, fly off the motorcycle and suffer major injuries. Chain | Cohn | Stiles came to his aid.

“There was never a time I didn’t have a question answered … If indeed I needed them again, they would be the ones to talk to,” Joe said. “If they take your case, they’re taking it for a reason.”

DOLORES

Dolores was carrying a box while working when she slipped, fell and injured herself. She hired an attorney outside of Bakersfield, who was unable to help her in her case. Later, she hired Chain | Cohn | Stiles.

“They always communicated everything,” she said in Spanish. “If you call them with any question, they’ll always call you back as soon as possible. And we won our case, thank God.”

LOREEN

Loreen was injured when the car she was driving was crashed into by an uninsured motorist. She chose an attorney from the phone book, who was unable to help her in her case over two years. Eventually, she discussed her situation with Chain | Cohn | Stiles’ David Cohn, who took Loreen’s case.

“Within just months, it was completely settled,” she said.

Local magazine highlights law firm’s 80-year anniversary

December 3, 2014 | 9:31 am

Eighty years ago, Morris B. Chain set up shop in the Haberfelde building in downtown Bakersfield. He quickly became one of the San Joaquin Valley’s most prolific attorneys, and laid the foundation for one of Kern County’s leading law firms, Chain | Cohn | Stiles.

Bakersfield Life Magazine, in its latest December issue, highlighted the Bakersfield-based personal injury law firm’s 80-year anniversary, which is this year.

You can view the article by clicking here.

The article continues:

“Chain led a successful practice that, through the years, has been filled mostly with attorneys and staff with deep local roots. Like Chain, their mission has been to fight for ‘the little guy.’

Today, the firm that still bears the Chain name is celebrating 80 years in Bakersfield. Though the name has changed through the years, today’s law firm, Chain Cohn Stiles, remains one of the best-known legal firms in Kern County.

This year, Chain Cohn Stiles has finalized the purchase of a historic 30,000-square-foot building at the southwest corner of 18th Street and Chester Avenue. The firm will move in 2015, opening yet another chapter for Kern County’s oldest personal injury law firm, while continuing to serve clients in downtown Bakersfield.

The Kern County law firm throughout 2014 has commemorated its 80-year anniversary in various ways, including partnering with the City of Bakersfield in a freeway litter cleanup project.

In the same issue of Bakersfield Life, the magazine featured an advertisement by Chain | Cohn | Stiles that highlighted the testimonial of a real-life client. It read:

“If you’re not sure what to do, come in and talk to them. That’s what we did. I was scared to death after the accident. I’ve never gone through any of this, and I didn’t want to go through by myself. It would have been easy to get taken advantage of by our insurance company. But the law firm took care of us, and took care of everything. Thank God for them. They have high integrity.”

Chain | Cohn | Stiles has served its community for 80 years, and looks forward to continuing to serve for many more. If you are injured due to the fault of another, or are seeking workers’ compensation assistance, contact the law firm at 661-323-4000 or visit the website Chainlaw.com.

CCS: Where real people go for justice

March 28, 2014 | 4:02 pm

At Chain | Cohn | Stiles, we know our clients are No. 1.

So, in the newest issue of Bakersfield Life Magazine, out Saturday in The Bakersfield Californian and online now, we wanted to highlight the experiences of our former clients at our law firm. See our ad HERE, and also on our Instagram.

We chose three real-life clients to feature in the ad. Here is what they had to say:

Michael C., who suffered a leg amputation following a motorcycle accident:

“I didn’t know what had happened after the accident, and I didn’t know anything about the legal system. But after the first meeting with David Cohn, I knew he was on my side and I was going to be OK. I had no problem worrying about the firm taking care of business. He was a big help. Now, I have no worries and no regrets.”

Marilyn B., who was injured after a driver ran a stop sign and broadsided her vehicle:

“They are the best lawyers in town. They came to see me in the hospital after my accident, and I was so nervous. But they reassured me everything was going to be OK, and I didn’t have to worry about anything. I trusted them. Overall, I was satisfied with the way everything went. They did so much for me and gave me confidence.”

Jonathon A., who suffered serious burn injuries when a steam line blew out:

“The lawyers and staff at Chain | Cohn | Stiles are some of the most heartfelt, trustworthy and caring people I have ever worked with. They made sure that my whole family and I were treated like family, and we never had our questions go unanswered. I thank you all for everything you have done for my family and I. You guys and girls truly changed my life. I am forever grateful!”
